BE ON THE LOOKOUT FOR …
This interesting little documentary about female superheroes!
GREAT MINDS THINK ALIKE …
Check out Total Film’s list – at least when it comes to recognizing that there are a plethora of great films out there with lackluster promotional materials.
DIRECTOR/STAR COLLABOS
Turning again to Total Film (they have great lists, BTW). This time TF examines the greatest 50 director/movie star collaborations. As you will see from the comments section, the debate continues. Who would you pick?

Agreed – I don’t always agree with him but his analysis is so well plotted and argued that he gets MAJOR props. My only wish is that we would do a show in the greater NYC area. Are you listening, Dr. K?

Without the collaboration of Fincher and Pitt, there would be no Fight Club. That would be a frightening and bleak world indeed.

Hi, iluv and company:
Kermode’s words are dead on, as usual.
Not really getting the hang of the SXSW ‘Super Heroine’ clip.
I’m a fan of Wonder Woman. Except when she went all Pantsuit and Chop-Socky in the late 1970s and early 80s in DC Comics. Also have no complaint against Warrant Officer Ripley and the score of strong, assertive women the character spawned. Though the ladies in attendance and their films seem to have become a slowly rising genre.
The original concept of Feminism has been politicized and turned 180 degrees out from its poorly executed, supposed good intentions. Into being a handmaiden for the uber liberal DNC. To the point of it being an embarrassing nonentity, today.
Securing my Soap Box.
Preparing to be flamed.
Carry on.

Hey Iba, Jack’s post is up now 😀
As for the last question on Hitchcock, I have to see more of his work first, but right now I like Spellbound and North by Northwest.
