Happy Friday – we are in full fall mode! At least that is what I think of when I see all the kiddies going to school in the morning. Unfortunately for “grown up” cinemagoers, there is still a little time before the awards courting (read: serious) season begins. So what we end up having are an interesting array of films that I can best describe as not having blockbuster audience appeal. But hey, you never know.
This weekend I decided to try to do something a little different. Based on the films that opened this week, including:
- The Words
- The Cold Light of Day
- Bachelorette
- Hello I Must Be Going
- The Inbetweeners Movie
- Keep the Lights On
- [REC]³ Génesis
… I will pick one that most piques my interest.
My Best Bet
The Inbetweeners Movie: This movie is actually a year old; it was initially released in the UK in the summer of 2011 where it enjoyed a successful box office run. And for good reason – it was based on the irreverent (and often lewd/rude) teen comedy. So if you are a fan of the series (like I was, occasionally), I suppose this would be something you would want to watch. Interesting side note: I think that a US remake (a la Skins) is currently airing on MTV. I cannot imagine, however, how wildly OTT the humor will be since it resides outside the bounds of televisual restrictions.
Aside from movies, I will likely be watching the conclusion of the tennis action taking place in nearby Flushing, Queens 🙂
But what about you? What will you be watching?
