Happy Friday the 13th Everyone!
After a rather lazy Easter holiday weekend, I am getting back into the cinema-going saddle. I really hope this is the weekend I will catch Damsels in Distress, and/or The Decoy Bride (currently available on demand).
I will also be working on my Tribeca Film Festival “plan of action.”
Well here are the releases for the upcoming week; let’s start with some of Rotten Tomatoes’ ‘Certified Fresh’ films (hint: The Three Stooges is not one of them).
Also in limited release is the Luc Besson film The Lady starring Michelle Yeoh and David Thewlis which tells the story of Aung San Suu Kyi, the woman at the heart of the Burmese fight for democracy.
Oh god I loved CABIN!! I really must see it again soon. Such a great film. And I do not normally like HORROR

Same here not a horror fan but based on your rec, I may give this one a chance 🙂
Have a great weekend Scott!
I’d love to see Cabin in the Woods. Apparantly it’s very good and I thought there are no good horrors anymore.

True Sati
The horror genre is definitely by way of the Michael Bay School of Cinema 🙂
I’m not sure Cabin in the Woods has a strong enough marketing campaign to win the weekend. I think the genre of Horror makes most of it’s money off of gore, violence, and appeal, not so much a well made picture (see Drag me to Hell). It’s nice that there’s a quality horror film to see on the 13th though.

Hey Max
It is hard for me to tell the effectiveness (or lack) from inside the bubble. I sure have heard about it but like you said I am certain others may not have. At least that is the impression i have gotten in talking to cinematic “laymen.”
I’m starting to be intrigued by The Cabin in the Woods so I might check it out sometime next week. Lockout looks pretty terrible so it will be a rental at best. Let’s not even mention The Three Stooges although I’m surprised it’s holding a relatively decent 42% RT right now.

I skip the cinema this weekend, catching up w/ more Sherlock and also an older thriller flick I’ve been wanting to see for a while.

Lately I cannot get myself out of the house to get to the cinema if I have to pay for it 😉
