Trailer O’Day – ’42’

Happy Friday all and sundry. Be on the lookout for a recap of the week’s events.

In the meantime, feast your eyes on the first trailer to the Jackie Robinson biopic, ’42.’ As the child of a Brooklyn Dodgers fan, and a fan of sports history in general, I am personally looking forward to this one.

After the trailer, let me know what you think:

This looks like a generic biopic, nothing spectacular. Interesting to see Harrison Ford in it though, I might give it a rent.

As a sports fan, I think it is about time he gets some due on the big screen; Robinson after all changed the face of modern professional sports. That is my main interest in the film. Jackie Robinson is legend. I was heartbroken a while back when I that many modern baseball players had not even heard of him.

It is almost (but to a greater extent) a pro athlete who has ever taken advantage of free agency, not knowing who Curt Flood is.

The release date (April) is an interesting one. I guess they are hoping to capitalize on the start of the 2013 baseball season.

Looking good. Hopefully, this will do justice to one true American legend. Never heard of Chadwick Boseman before but he looks the part, so far.

I am geeked for this film and intend to support it at the box office for reasons both superficial (my ethnicity, as a source of pride), emotional (my (late) dad’s love of the team (Dodgers) and player (Robinson).

Like said previously I really hope that Robinson is done justice.
