I just watched all three trailers for ‘Elysium’ on IMDb. And see a gritty origin of the 1970s Marvel comic character, “Deathlok, The Destroyer”. Who has been multiple American soldier killed or wounded. And rebuilt with heavy duty exo-skeleton and LOTS of Cybernetics.
I didn’t recognize Jodie Foster, which may be a good thing.
Looks interesting for a DVD rental, but not really much more.
The flic looks very earnest and interesting. I just wish the allegory (class war) was more subtle but it still looks engaging. And I like the director’s previous work (District Nine). Darth Jalious recently posted..Flacco Is A Winner But Still Not One Of Fantasy’s Elite Quarterbacks
Agreed, regarding the summer malaise of films. Hollywood made a lot of money (largely via comic-based flics) but the overall breadth and depth of this summer’s films has been lacking indeed. I am awaiting Thor in the Fall though. And yes, like District 9, I’ll wait for this one to be shown on the small screen. 🙂 Yeah I think it may be a DVD but then again I was pleasantly surprised by District 9.

Yeah I dunno. Maybe I will see it, maybe I won’t. In general. This feels like a sluggish summer at the box office.
