Dear readers – please indulge me for the next few minutes as I attempt to ask and answer my own questions regarding Avengers: EndGame. My endgame? That you will be entertained and informed so that you can make an educated decision about what to expect going into the film. So without further ado, here we go!
Q & A
Did you enjoy the film? *&*! yes. I will be the first to admit that I often approach superhero films with a little trepidation, wondering if the next film is the film that will finally break me. Well, this one is not the one, that’s for sure.
Was it what you expected? In some ways yes and in some ways no. I feel like what you think you may know about the film may not be it. LOL. Hint: the trailer is rather misleading in a lot of ways. That is all I will say.
Did you laugh? A LOT more than I thought I would. It felt like this tonal shift was designed to contrast with the darkness of Infinity War. Sure there are emotional peaks and valleys in the setup for this story, but it can’t be all gloom and doom, that’s for sure.
Did you cry? I thought I wouldn’t but then there was a moment – I got full and fully went for it – getting swept in the emotions.
Did you cheer? More than I have in a film for a while. And when I say cheer, I am talking straight up hand clapping and yelps!
Does it feel like 3 hours? Heck nah. In fact, the time really did fly by. Sure, there were some “slower” moments, but they were paced in a way so as not to drag the overall story down.
Did any of your predictions come to pass? Well, besides the trailers, I came into Avengers: EndGame cold. And in general, I do not like to prognosticate. I like to sit back while I am watching the film and pick up clues during the film and come up with some conclusions there. In that regard, I had a few hits and a miss (or two).
Were there some cringeworthy moments? Sure there were. No film is perfect. Here, that isn’t the point. This film is about fun and giving the audience something to be entertained by. That said, there were at least a couple of moments where I was “did we really need that?” But ultimately I was cool with it because I was having so much fun.
Does the narrative hold up? For the most part. I mean there are bits that left me scratching my head and tested the limits of my suspension of disbelief. But these moments did not dampen my overall excitement for the film.
Are there any battle sequences? What do you think?
Is there an end credits sequence? Yes and No?
How would you describe the end? Bittersweet, well-deserved, earned and satisfying.
After the film, what do you think the future holds for the MCU? Caveat: I am not one who follows MCU news on the regular so my perspective is probably a rather unique one. So based on what I do know, my initial guess is that the future is rather bright, for many reasons. There are a few clues here in EndGame that the world will expand and get more interesting as it enters a new phase.
Final Thoughts
While maybe not as structurally tight as its predecessor, Avengers: EndGame gives the fans enough of a payoff for ten years of dedication to the story Feige and company wanted to tell. At the same time, it gives clear signals of where the MCU is headed in the future.

Great, great breakdown. You do “whatever it takes,” to get to the heart of the matter. I love the first act about folks dealing with the aftermath of the losses from Thanos’s snap. And it’s paid off with the reverse of said snap, and the sacrifices required to do so in the final act.

great breakdown – totally agreed!
