Today, the Time Magazine released its 100 Most Influential People in the World list. While these lists are principally qualitative, it is interesting to see who are considered key influencers in politics, culture and the world at large.

This year’s list includes several people from the world of film, including:

  1. Viola Davis, Oscar™-nominated actress
  2. Kristen Wiig, Breakthrough creative force behind 2011’s Bridesmaids
  3. Jessica Chastain, Oscar™-nominated actress
  4. Asghar Farhadi, Director of Oscar™-winning film A Separation
  5. Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, Filmmaker/documentarian
  6. Harvey Weinstein, Film producer
  7. Tilda Swinton, Oscar™-winning actress
  8. Claire Danes, Actress

Please be sure to click on the individuals’ names to see the write-ups, also done by some personalities of note. Great to see all the female representation (6 out of 8)!

  1. Wow, TWO actresses from The Help are on it, right on! I have no idea how they measure this ‘influence’ though.

  2. Interesting. Had to click on a couple to see why the hell they would be considered so influential at this time. I totally forgot Danes was in Homeland so I was thinking ‘what has she done recently?’

    • Pete it was a toss-up for me as whether or not to include her because the reason for being on the list was TV-related. But in the end, she is an actress of acclaim in both media.
