Box Office Mojo is forecasting that Captain America will can top Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2, which it also say could see a massive drop-off in receipts in its second week.
I for one think that Harry Potter could hold strong especially on repeat viewings. Personally I am planning on seeing it again in 2D after seeing it in IMAX 3D opening weekend. However it may have to wait — if it is not too hot to go out, I will see Captain America. Also be on the lookout for my Friends With Benefits review, which I am in the finishing stages of composing.

I think it will be close but Captain America will win out. Harry Potter will last longer at the box office though.

I’m with Castor.
‘Captain America’ will have a better overall weekend than ‘Harry Potter’. Then fizzle out within a month. Though there will get more repeat and family business for Harry and The Deathly Hallows, Pt. 2.
Personally, I’m kind of Harry Pottered out. And have been a fan of Captain America since its Jack Kirby/Johnny Romita days to strain at the leash of opening week business.
I’ll wait for DVD or HBO on either film.
HI Jack. I probably worded it poorly but that is where I was going with my post. HP will be a steadier presence in the box office (not that it really needs it). Captain America is a nice entry into the Avengers franchise. Review to follow shortly.
